Cape to Cape Challenge 2003

An endurance rally for amateur drivers!
The aim is to start from the northern most point of Europe, North Cape in Norway,
and drive approx 4,000 miles south to Cape Tarifa in Southern Spain. This will possibly take us
through 8 different countries in total and will need to be completed within 4 days, and all
without breaking any speed limits.

The entrants are Stephen Babington, owner of SMB Motors, and employee Janet Wilkins.

We are a two person team from Plymstock, Plymouth who have signed up to a challenge of driving approx 4000 miles through Europe from North Cape in Norway to Cape Tarifa in Southern Spain, and all within 5 days during June 2003.

Literature from Motor Challenges Ltd of Redruth, organisers of this endurance rally, came through the post to us only recently and it is with the intention of raising funds for Cancer Research UK based in Devon that we have entered. They have given us their support to go ahead and raise funding.

The entrants are Stephen Babington, owner of SMB Motors, and employee Janet Wilkins, who has worked there for 11years. During that time Janet has seen her only brother and both in-law's suffer from cancer related diseases. Proud of the way she has seen her family fight back and come through the 'dark days' it is her way of showing support to them and for all the other families who have been devastated by cancer diseases. At 42 years old and having been in the motor trade for 11 years keeping records and doing wages, Janet has no technical skills whatsoever to cope with vehicle problems throughout the rally and so, it was her idea to persuade her 'mechanic' to accompany her. Stephen is firstly a good friend and secondly, her employer who, very kindly, is prepared to give up his time and skills in support of this venture.

We are desperately in need of pledges, donations and sponsorship for Cancer Research UK in order to raise a healthy amount for them and would appreciate any help from both public and business sector. There has to be thousands of South West people out there who have had their loved ones stricken by this terrible disease.

Please put your support into pledges and make our challenge worthwhile.
